International Speaker: Dr W K 'Kling' Chong
Consultant Neuroradiologist
Great Ormand Street Hospital, UK
Dr Chong has been a Consultant Pediatric Neuroradiologist at
the Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London since
1994. He graduated in Medicine from the University of Sheffield,
UK in 1985 and also obtained a degree in Medical Physics. He
specialised in Radiology then Neuroradiology in London at the
National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery, Queen Square
and the Atkinson Morley Hospital, Wimbledon, London. He completed his MD thesis in 1993
on the application of Quantitative Neuro-MR techniques.
He remains one only two full-time Paediatric Neuroradiologists in the UK and lectures widely on the subject both nationally and internationally. He maintains the only formal training program in this field in the UK, which is part of the Pan-London Neuroradiology Training Fellowship.
He has over 90 peer reviewed publications, including 8 first name publications, three last name publications and seven book chapters. His current research interests include the application of magnetic resonance techniques to the investigation of paediatric stroke and epilepsy, as well as the investigation of paediatric central nervous system tumours. Born in the tropical environment of Malaysia, he rarely misses an opportunity to indulge in activities best restricted to warmer climates, such as badminton and scuba diving.
